Barracuda Copy on Desktop Systems

With the Barracuda Copy desktop app, changes that you make to the files in the Barracuda Copy home folder on your desktop are synced to the Barracuda Copy cloud. You can use the Barracuda Copy app on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. You can also install Barracuda Copy on Mobile Devices and Raspberry Pi.

To get started, review the requirements and install the Barracuda Copy app for your system. 

System Requirements

Microsoft Windows

  • Windows XP (32-bit only), Vista, 7, 8 (32-bit and 64-bit)

Apple Mac OS

  • Mac OS X 10.7 and higher

Linux

  • Any modern Linux distribution with installed glibc 2.13 and above. Ubuntu 11 or later recommended

CPU

  • CPU must support the SSE2 instruction set
  • AMD K8-based (Athlon 64, Sempron 64, Turion 64, etc.), Phenom
  • Intel NetBurst-based CPUs (Pentium 4, Xeon, Celeron, Celeron D, etc.)
  • Intel Pentium M and Celeron M
  • Intel Core family (including Intel Core 2, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7)
  • Intel Atom

Install on Windows

  1. Go to https://www.copy.com/install, and download the Barracuda Copy app for Windows.
  2. Open the Barracuda Copy app executable (exe), and follow the instructions to install Barracuda Copy.
  3. Launch the Barracuda Copy app.
  4. Enter your Barracuda Copy account User Email and Password.
  5. Click Login.
  6. Click Continue to create the Copy folder in your home directory, or click Select a Different Folder if you want to sync another folder with Barracuda Copy.
  7. Click Continue to download all your existing files to this computer, or click Choose Files to Sync if you want to select which files and folder to download.

Install on Mac OS

  1. Go to https://www.copy.com/install, and download the Barracuda Copy app for MacOS.
  2. Navigate to the download location of the Barracuda Copy app.
  3. Open the Barracuda Copy app disc image (dmg), and move the Barracuda Copy app to your Applications folder.
  4. Launch the Barracuda Copy app.
  5. Enter your Barracuda Copy account User Email and Password.
  6. Click Login. 
  7. Click Continue to create the Copy folder in your home directory, or click Select a Different Folder if you want to sync another folder with Barracuda Copy.
  8. Click Continue to download all your existing files to this computer, or click Choose Files to Sync if you want to select which files and folder to download.

Install on Linux (Ubuntu)

  1. Go to https://www.copy.com/install, and download the Barracuda Copy app for Linux.
  2. Open a terminal.
  3. Change to your Downloads folder.
    cd Downloads

  4. Extract the binaries.
    tar xvf <copy file>

  5. Change to the Barracuda Copy directory.
    cd copy

  6. Depending on your system, change to the directory for the 32-bit or 64-bit installation.

    • 32-bit
      cd x86

    • 64-bit
      cd x86_64

  7. Run CopyAgent.
    ./CopyAgent

  8. When the Barracuda Copy app launches, enter your Barracuda Copy account User Email and Password.
  9. Click Login. 
  10. Click Continue to create the Copy folder in your home directory, or click Select a Different Folder if you want to sync another folder with Barracuda Copy.
  11. Click Continue to download all your existing files to this computer, or click Choose Files to Sync if you want to select which files and folder to download.
